KYLE BUSCH AND DENNY HAMLIN “RACE OFF” AT RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY FOR CHARITY Z-Line Designs Owners, Jim & Monica Sexton, challenge teammates in support of Operation Helmet and Racing For Kids

September 9, 2009

SAN RAMON, Calif. – September 09, 2009 – Jim Sexton, CEO of Z-Line Designs furniture manufacturing and a proud sponsor of NASCAR racing is always up for a challenge but, recently, he was surprised when his wife, Monica, laid down the gauntlet for a “family feud” at the NASCAR Nationwide Series Virginia 529 College Savings 250 to be held at Richmond International Raceway on September 11, 2009.

Normally, Z-Line Designs presents a united front behind their regular NASCAR driver, Kyle Busch and Car #18 for Joe Gibbs Racing. (JGR)  However, for this special occasion, Monica has enlisted the help of Denny Hamlin, Busch’s teammate at JGR, who will drive Car #20 under Z-Line Designs’ sponsorship for her favorite charity, Operation Helmet while Busch, driving Car #18, will be representing Jim’s charity of choice, Racing For Kids.

There can be only one NASCAR winner at the finish and both Hamlin and Busch will vie seriously for the checkered flag to improve their standings in this championship series but the race will also pit the drivers and the fun-loving Sextons against each other as they support these two deserving charities.

It’s definitely a family feud with a twist.  Unlike the Hatfields and the McCoys, nobody’s angry and, in the end, everybody wins.  The purpose of this challenge is to bring awareness for these two very special charities and both will receive donations on behalf of Z-Line Designs.

Operation Helmet is a cause near and dear to Monica Sexton’s heart.  The Texas-based nonprofit raises funds for helmet upgrade kits designed to prevent traumatic head and brain injuries for our troops serving in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan.  “My father is a retired Brigadier General with the U.S. Army,” explained Monica.  “Anything that I can do to support the troops who risk their lives for our freedom is an honor.  Denny has agreed to drive for the Z-Line Designs Operation Helmet Team and we’re going to push the pedal to the metal to let the fans know about this deserving organization.”  For more information, check out http://www.operation-helmet.org

Monica will suit up as the honorary Crew Chief on Pit Row for Hamlin’s Car #20 and just two stops away, her husband, Jim will assume honorary Crew Chief duties on behalf of Busch and Car #18 which will proudly display the Racing For Kids logo.

“This charity uses the popularity of motor-sports to bring public attention and funding to the health care needs of children,” noted Sexton.  “Drivers visit area hospitals and some patients actually come to the racecourse for ‘a-day-at-the-track’ where they get to meet the drivers, watch practice sessions and tour the paddock area,” he added.  “We know that Racing For Kids has helped sick children get better faster and we strongly support efforts to improve health care for all children.”  To learn more about Racing For Kids, visit www.racingforkids.org

As to his wife’s challenge, Sexton is not backing down from the fight. “Monica is going to get a run for her money if she thinks that our Racing For Kids Team is going to give anything less than 110 percent.”  While this “family feud” is really just for fun, one can anticipate that sparks are going to fly.  Fans will hear a lot of “trash-talking” going on between Monica and Jim leading up to the race on September 11th and are encouraged to check out the Z-Line Designs Facebook Page:  http://www.facebook.com/TeamZLine as well as the Z-Line Twitter account: http://twitter.teamzline.com  for the on-going war of words.

Facebook has a voting application that will allow Team Z-Line fans to cast their votes for Monica’s Operation Helmet Team with Denny Hamlin leading the charge or Jim’s Racing for Kids Team with Kyle Busch championing the children.

Twitterers who plan to attend the race in Richmond are urged to provide live “Tweets” for up-to-the-minute coverage. For more information, please contact Jennifer Hansen at Z-Line Designs, Jhansen@z-linedesigns.com
