Versatile Z-Line Designs Furniture Featured on Weekend Makeover TV Show

April 7, 2006

SAN RAMON, CA— Pages and airwaves are filled these days with great-looking home décor projects, rehabs, and makeovers, but who’s got the time?

One TV show purports to make it easier to tackle the project you’ve been dreaming about—Weekend Makeover, seen on the cable Travel Channel, offers project ideas for inside and outside the home that can be completed in, well, a weekend, albeit with a little advanced scouting and planning.

The show differentiates itself by making it easy for viewers to locate products featured on
the show. Contact Web sites, logos, and shopping locations—sometimes even interesting company profiles—are interwoven seamlessly on screen, shortening product research time for viewers and enabling them to locate and purchase the precise products they see on screen.

“It’s a win-win situation for everyone,” says Jim Sexton, founder and CEO of Z-Line Designs, whose company was approached by show producers to participate.

Z-Line Designs is a leading designer and import manufacturer of high-quality, ready-to-assemble home office, home entertainment, and home décor furniture.

“We were honored to be asked to provide furniture for the show and are intrigued by the show’s helpful sales relationship with the consumer,” Sextons says. “Because our product is distributed so widely at major retail chains, it made sense to take advantage of this broad exposure. It helps us and our retailers; but, most importantly, consumers benefit because it becomes easy to find and purchase the products they like.”

Because consumer homes and tastes vary, producers selected a diversity of products from the Z-Line Designs offerings, which range from traditional styles in solid and veneer wood to contemporary, melamine, and hi-tech-inspired collections in mixed media combinations of wood, metal, and glass.

Producers selected three different product lines from the innovative Z-Line collections of computer desk systems, armoires, file/storage products, and television, audio, and entertainment centers. Each collection will be featured in a 2-3-minute segment on one of three, 30-minute Weekend Makeover shows.

The first show airs Friday, April 8, on the Travel Channel. Check local listings for time.

The Z-line will debut on a family room makeover will include entertainment, home office, and occasional furnishings from the solid wood and wood veneer Ashton Lane Collection—clean, updated silhouettes in a dark espresso finish with brushed nickel hardware—available exclusively at Wal-Mart.

The second two shows focus on home office makeovers in contrasting styles: The Matrix Executive Collection will lend its contemporary glass and metal styling to a modern home office makeover; the rich cherry finish and antique silver pulls of the updated, traditional style Stanton Collection will furnish a classic, upscale home office setting. Both home office lines are carried exclusively at Staples.

It’s not surprising that Weekend Makeover turned to Z-Line Designs for its makeovers. The company’s combination of sharp design, high-quality materials, and affordability has been recognized with numerous awards. The Matrix line in 2002 won the prestigious American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) Pinnacle Design Achievement Award, which celebrates design and quality produced in large numbers for sale to consumers through retail stores. Other accolades include the CNBC Champions of Industry Award, Design Journal’s Best of Show Awards, and ADEX Design Awards.
